Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and almond extract. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Fold in the 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.

In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Sprinkle over the batter in the pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
