Almond Chiffon Cake Recipe
Ingredients
For this recipe, you’ll need to prepare the following ingredients:
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of sugar
7 tablespoons of vegetable oil
3 egg yolks
2 teaspoons of almond extract
1/2 cup of cold water
3 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon of cream of tartar
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of sliced almonds
Instructions
To make this delicious almond chiffon cake, follow the instructions below:
1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine.
3. In a separate large bowl, combine the sugar, oil, egg yolks, almond extract, and cold water. Whisk until well-combined.
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not over-mix.
5. In a separate medium bowl, whisk the egg whites until foamy. Add the cream of tartar and continue to whisk until soft peaks form. Gradually add the 1/4 cup of sugar to the egg whites and whisk until stiff peaks form.
6. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
7. Sprinkle the almonds on top of the cake batter. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
9. Slice and serve the cake with a dollop of freshly whipped cream, if desired.
