Ingredients

Gradually stir in the flour mixture until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the meringue, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the granulated sugar, and beat until stiff peaks form. Spread the meringue over the top of the cooled cake. Bake the cake in the oven for an additional 10 minutes. Let cool before serving.

Serving the Cake

To serve the cake, whip the heavy cream and confectioners’ sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the cake and sprinkle with additional confectioners’ sugar. Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy!
