Tres Leches Cake Recipe With French Vanilla Cake Mix
Tres leches cake is one of the most beloved and rich desserts out there. It is a classic Latin American cake that has been around for centuries and is still very popular today. It is made with three different types of milk, hence the name "Tres Leches", which literally translates to "three milks". This recipe uses a French Vanilla Cake Mix as the base for the cake, making it a super easy way to prepare this decadent dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 package of French Vanilla Cake Mix
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 1 can of evaporated milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional: fruit of your choice for topping (strawberries, blueberries, kiwis, etc.)
Instructions
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch cake pan with butter or cooking spray.
Step 2:
In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, water, and vanilla extract until combined. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely before continuing.
Step 3:
Once the cake is cooled, use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the cake. This will help the cake absorb the milks.
Step 4:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream. Pour the mixture over the cake, making sure to cover every hole. Allow the cake to sit and absorb the milks for at least an hour.
Step 5:
Optional: if you want to add fruit to the top, spread the fruit over the surface of the cake.
Step 6:
Slice and serve. Enjoy!
